About This Meeting:

The SpringWidgets API and other template tools provide developers and content producers with a quick and easy way to develop and deploy Flash-based widgets for both the desktop and the web using a single code base. Topics presented at this meeting include concepts and features of the API, widget development and best practices to get you started building your own widgets.

About Our Presenters:

Jesse Edwards:

Jesse Edwards is a Senior Application Developer for FIMLabs Atlanta — an R&D group for Fox Interactive Media. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Jesse holds a BFA in web and multi-media design and has been a strong proponent of the use of open source platforms throughout his development career. Jesse utilizes his creativity to push technologies beyond their traditional use as you can see in his desktop solutions work developed for clients such as FoxSports, DirectTV, WSI and The Weather Channel, American Idol . Jesse's understanding of design and information architecture assists him daily in creating a harmony between design and functionality. Jesse was a speaker at the Mix06 conference in Las Vegas on the subject of extending your experience to the desktop.

 

Frank Spitzka:

Frank Spitzka holds a BFA in Multimedia and is a Senior Application Developer for FIMLabs Atlanta  an R&D group for Fox Interactive Media. Throughout his career Frank has worked on desktop and web applications for numerous Media Corporations (DirecTV, WSI, Fox Sports, a.o.) and even though Frank's platform of choice is Adobe Flash, he also takes advantage of the synergy of combining multiple technologies to create new ways of interacting with data. Creating user-centric solutions is Frank's main goal and he is very involved from conception through interface design and usability. Currently, Frank is the lead developer for SpringWidgets; a widget platform that seamlessly bridges the gap between the desktop and the web. Frank was a presenter in November 2006 at the WidgetsLive! Conference in San Francisco when SpringWidgets was launched to the public.
